A pad made to fit your rug — not the other way around

Standard rug pads come in a few set sizes and leave you to make do. We do it differently: we cut every pad to your rug's exact dimensions, free of charge. Whatever you're putting on the floor — a runner, a round, an oversized living room rug, or some odd in-between size — we'll cut a pad to match it.

How it works

It takes about a minute on the product page:

  1. Choose your pad. Pick the pad that fits your need — a felt-and-rubber pad for cushion and grip, or a thin natural-rubber non-slip pad for grip and a low profile.
  2. Pick your thickness and shape. Choose how plush you want it, then select your rug's shape — rectangle, square, runner, round, oval, or octagon.
  3. Enter your rug's size. Type in your rug's width and length in feet and inches. The price updates instantly, and you'll see the exact finished size we'll cut.
  4. We cut it to fit. Your pad is made to order, cut to your measurements, and shipped ready to lay down. No trimming, no guesswork.

Why your pad is cut a little smaller than your rug

This is the part people ask about, so here's the simple version: we cut your pad about one inch smaller than your rug on every side.

That's on purpose. A pad that's slightly smaller tucks completely out of sight under the rug, grips it from corner to corner, and never peeks out around the edges. So if you enter a 5' × 8' rug, we cut a pad that finishes at roughly 4'10" × 7'10" — and you'll see that finished size right on the product page before you order. It's the difference between a pad that looks built-in and one that shows.

How to measure your rug

Measure the rug itself, not the floor or the space:

  • Rectangles, squares, runners, ovals: measure the width and the length at the widest points.
  • Round rugs: measure straight across the center (the diameter).
  • Round to the nearest inch and enter it on the product page — we handle the rest, including the one-inch inset.

If your rug has fringe, measure to where the woven part ends, not the tips of the fringe.
